It's funny indeed, but rather predictable. The art group "War" and its "Dick in the captivity of KGB" has just taken a main award on the Innovation art contest in the nomination "A work of visual art".

Short results of the Art Moscow 2010 exhibition. According to preliminary calculations the total sales are about 4,5 million euros. About 2,5 millions is for direct sales and about 2 millions for reservations. 44% of this amount falls on foreign galleries and the rest does on Russian ones.

Five of the most successful Russian galleries are as follows: Frolov Gallery (Moscow), Aidan Gallery (Moscow), Triumph Gallery (Moscow), Barbarian Art Gallery (Zurich), Shiraishi Gallery (Tokyo). The most part of the sales falls on the Russian artists (64%). The curator of the Russian pavilion at the Venice Biennale 2011 will be Boris Groys. And the commissaries of the Russian Pavilion are Stella Kesaeva (Stella Art Foundation) and Grigory Revzin (Russian architecture critic).

Boris Groys is one of the greatest cultural theorists in Russia. The professor of the State Higher School of Design in Karlsruhe, the author of numerous articles and monographs, including one of the first works of the Moscow conceptualism as well as the books "Stalin Style", "Comments on the art" etc. As a curator Groys used to organize a number of the exhibitions. Organizers of the exhibition "Forbidden Art - 2006" are fined. Tagansky Moscow court on Monday sentenced Andrey Erofeev (former head of the department of the latest trends of the Tretyakov Gallery) and Yuri Samodurov (former director of the Sakharov Museum) in fines about twelve thousand dollars totally. The court found them guilty of inciting hatred and enmity as well as humiliation of human dignity by using his official position.

The ceremony of awarding of Innovation Contest 2009 took part yesterday on Baibakov Art Projects space at the «Red October» factory. 

Video installation «Balaklavskiy Courage» by Sergey Bratkov won in the main nomination «Visual Arts». Project «Kudymkor» (curators Ekaterina Degot and Leonid Tishkov) won in the category «curatorial projects. «Aesthetic Studies» by Andrey Monastyrsky took the prize in the nomination «Theory. NCCA (National Center for Contemporary Arts) shows the exhibition of V All-Russian contest in the field of contemporary visual art "Innovation" (see the short list). The exhibition will be held in the NCCA's space from April 6 to May 2, 2010. And the ceremony of awarding will be on April 15 in Baibakov Art Projects space.

Several days ago the expert board of Russian contemporary art contest "Innovation" presented the list of nominees. In different years this prizes were awarded to Oleg Kulik, Oscar Rabin and Dmitry Prigov.
