The ceremony of awarding of Innovation Contest 2009 took part yesterday on Baibakov Art Projects space at the «Red October» factory. 

Video installation «Balaklavskiy Courage» by Sergey Bratkov won in the main nomination «Visual Arts». Project «Kudymkor» (curators Ekaterina Degot and Leonid Tishkov) won in the category «curatorial projects. «Aesthetic Studies» by Andrey Monastyrsky took the prize in the nomination «Theory. Criticism. History». Sergey Kovalevsky won in the nomination «Regional Project» (VIII Krasnoyarsk Museum Biennale). Semen Motolyanets and Dmitry Petukhov with the project «Figure skating at the soap» took the prize in the nomination «New Generation». 

Also special prizes were awarded as part of the ceremony. Artist Nicholas Polissky (project Large Hadron Collider) received an award from the fund «You and the Art». Young artist Alexandra Galkina got a two-week trip to Vienna from the Stella Art Foundation.


As I had written before the jury awarded prizes in two non-competitive categories: to curator Olga Lopukhova («For creative contributions to the development of modern art») and to Stella Kesaeva, the head of Stella Art Foundation («For the support of contemporary art in Russia»).


On June, from 12 to 16, the works by winners of «Innovation» prize of several years will be shown at the Paris Grand Palais in the frames of the National Exhibition dedicated to the Year of Russia. |
